Terms of Service

Last updated: April 8, 2026

Welcome to VaultLink! By accessing or using our platform, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully, as they include important limitations on liability regarding encrypted data loss.

1. Account and Key Responsibility

You are entirely responsible for maintaining the security of your decryption keys and, if applicable, your account credentials.

  • Zero-Knowledge Clause: VaultLink has absolutely no access to your master keys or your plaintext data. If you lose your key or your device fails, your vault cannot be recovered by us. We are not liable for data loss due to lost keys, forgotten passphrases, or hardware failure.
  • Key Backup Responsibility: You are strictly required to back up your decryption keys (hex keys) in a secure, secondary location (such as a physical piece of paper, an offline password manager, or a secondary device). Possessing a vault file (.vault) without the corresponding key is useless; the data remains mathematically inaccessible forever.
  • Storage Responsibility: VaultLink uses local browser storage (IndexedDB) to save your work. Browser storage is NOT permanent. You are solely responsible for manually exporting your vault to a .vault file and securing that file on your own hardware or secondary backup. We hold no liability for data lost due to browser cache clearing, device failure, or uninstallation.
  • External Sharing Risks: Features that allow you to share `.vault` files or decryption keys via third-party channels (e.g., WhatsApp QR, Email, or raw file transfer) are utilized entirely at your own risk. Use of the direct P2P transfer feature involves third-party signaling services (PeerJS) to facilitate the connection. We hold zero liability if the external platforms or services you use to share your secure credentials or establish connections expose them to unauthorized parties.

2. Purchases and Refunds

All financial transactions for Pro features are handled securely by our Merchant of Record, LemonSqueezy. By upgrading to a Pro plan, you also agree to LemonSqueezy's applicable terms.

  • Lifetime Access Refund Policy: We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for Lifetime Access purchases. If you are unsatisfied, you may request a refund within 7 days of purchase. After this period, all sales are final.
  • Subscriptions: Monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time to prevent future billing. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing cycles already processed.

3. User Conduct and Legality

You agree to use VaultLink only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the platform to store or distribute highly illegal, non-consensual, or malicious content.
  • Attempt to disrupt, exploit, reverse engineer, or hack the service infrastructure.
  • Engage in abusive behavior toward our support team.

4. Intellectual Property

All platform code, aesthetics, branding, and logic comprising VaultLink (strictly excluding your user-encrypted payloads) are the exclusive intellectual property of VaultLink. You may not copy, reproduce, or resell any part of our service without explicit written permission.

5. Service Availability and Hardware Limits

We strive for high reliability and 99.9% uptime, but we do not guarantee that the service will be entirely uninterrupted. Because VaultLink limits server interactions, please consider:

  • Independent Recovery (No Vendor Lock-in): If VaultLink servers ever become completely unavailable, you can still access your data independently. Your downloaded `.vault` payloads encapsulate standard AES-256-GCM encrypted blobs. As long as you possess your encryption keys, you or any developer can write a script to decrypt your files entirely offline.
  • "Unlimited" Feature Constraints: For Pro plans advertising "Unlimited vault items," please note that no artificial limits are imposed by VaultLink. However, because data is processed locally, you are ultimately subject to the physical limitations of your computer and your browser's local storage capabilities (e.g., IndexedDB quotas). VaultLink cannot magically bypass your device's physical storage ceilings.
  • Third-Party Dependency: VaultLink relies on external providers (e.g., Supabase for authentication, LemonSqueezy for payments, and PeerJS for P2P signaling). We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or security breaches occurring within these third-party infrastructures.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." VAULTLINK DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, FREE OF BUGS, GLITCHES, OR TECHNICAL INACCURACIES, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL OPERATE UNINTERRUPTED OR IN A COMPLETELY SECURE MANNER. ANY INCORRECT OPERATION, DATA DISPLAY ERRORS, OR TEMPORARY UNAVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT BE GROUNDS FOR LIABILITY. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICE IS WITH YOU.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL VAULTLINK BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF DATA, DECRYPTION KEYS, HARDWARE FAILURE, LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF VAULTLINK HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. VAULTLINK SHALL HAVE ZERO FINANCIAL LIABILITY TO THE USER OR ANY THIRD PARTY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VaultLink and its operators from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from: (i) your use of and access to the Service; (ii) your violation of any term of these Terms of Service; or (iii) your violation of any third-party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right.

9. Force Majeure

VaultLink shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, riot, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, service provider failures, strikes, or shortages of transportation facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Poland. You agree that the courts of Poland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these Terms.

11. Severability and Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

12. Entire Agreement and Assignment

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have had between us regarding the Service. VaultLink may assign its rights and obligations under these Terms at its sole discretion (e.g., in the event of a sale or merger).

13. Age Restrictions

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years of age. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will indicate the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
